Baltic Capitals-Poland episode 3 part c

What a sobering morning visiting an infamous concentration/extermination camp, Auschwitz. On to our afternoon. Lunch at a really interesting local restaurant where we devoured tasty pierogies and a heavy wheat bread with lard spread. Sounds icky but not bad.
We stopped Jasna Gora Church where the black Madonna is worshipped. Sure enough there was a pilgrimage in process ... felt more jammed with navigating around people than when in Disney world. An interesting stop for sure.
Then, if the day was not cheery enough, during our 3 hour commute to Warsaw, our guide played the movie the Pianist. It depicts Warsaw in the Nazi occupation and 2 uprisings during WWII. Yikes, that was totally devastating to people in this city. I had managed to snooze off when a gun shot from the movie awakened me to look out the window and only see white. For a second there though we were in a plane ... turned out to be a white semi trailer. Whew....
Tomorrow, Warsaw!
