Day 3. Fantastic weather! First full day in Bariloche

So nice to sleep in a bit. Seems like it takes days to catch up on one missed night of sleep. Love the almost 17 hours of daylight! It was up and at em and on the van at 9:30 to begin the day's adventure. A gondola ride up one of the nearby "hills", named Campanario. Once at the top, climbed up to the observation deck. The reward was well worth it! Fabulous breathtaking views of Lake Nahuel Huapi nestled in the foothills of the Andes. Enjoy some of the photos! After snapping a couple hundred photos, of we went to hit the dusty trail....literally. It is quite dry here, who knew !?! Strolled, climbed and descended our way through the mountain woods. We all were very glad to see our van waiting to take us down the mountain upon the conclusion of the trek. But first, stopped at the Refuge Berghof. Apparently many nazis fled Germany at the end of the war to this area. We will learn much more tomorrow, check day 4 blog for more info. We were served up yummy lentil soup and, of course, a mighty tasty local craft brew. Yum! Back to the hotel met with a local Mapuche woman. We learned about their current struggles to be able to continue to live in their homes on the land these tribal people have lived for centuries. Sadly, this scenario has occurred to so many indigenous people in so many places in the world. Dinner! On our own. Janet and I navigated successfully to a nearby burger and craft beer joint. Consistent theme seems to be evolving once again. Surprised? Hope you enjoyed the above pics. Check in for more adventure tomorrow!
