Baltic Capitals-St Petersburg episode 17 part a

St Petersburg! The city Pushkin described as "Tsar Peter the Great's window to the west". Today it is a bustling city of over 5 million. Which pales in comparison to Moscow with 12 million. What most of us did not know is that St Petersburg is similar to Venice and Amsterdam in that it is comprised of 42 islands connected by over 500 bridges. Today, right on cue and first day in a new city, met our city guide, loaded up in the short bus and off we went. Enjoy some scenes below of the monument to Catherine II, baroque architecture, opera house, and the main thoroughfare. ( cannot remember how to say let alone spell...)
