China! Day 1 part c
Jade Buddha Temple! Fascinating campus of numerous temples founded in 1882. Featured are a number of Buddha statues from different traditions such as the Pure Land and Chan, within Mahayana Buddhism. In 1882 two jade Buddha statues were imported to Shanghai from Myanmar. A sitting Buddha measuring 1.95 meters tall and a smaller reclining Buddha representing the Buddha's death. There are quite a number of chambers with various Buddha statues all representing a particular Buddha. There are nearly 100 Buddha depictions in this religion. This temple is beautifully maintained and was interesting to explore. Dinner out with the group and hoping to sleep a continuous 8 hours tonight. This 14 hour time change is a bit challenging.... Keep checking the blog. So much more to come.
