> Our most excellent guide, Cassie, found a woman to host a home visit ... in one if the innumerable 30 story housing buildings. China seriously has high density housing. When the dams were built on the Yangtze River, 1.2 million people had to be relocated. The building we visited once built for this purpose to relocate the people whose homes were soon to be under water. It was a 10 year project to build the relocation housing, tear down and recycle the old buildings, and build the dams. This raised the water level by 60 meters — about 180 feet. We stepped off the boat to be greeted by our host, Bunny. You can see her in red by the man doing calligraphy with water and a brush. Every morning in every park, people gather for exercise, dancing, ping pong, badminton and many other social activities. Would be fabulous if people in the USA could follow suit. We visited Bunny's home in the 24th floor. Priceless view of the river and opposite shore. You can see our boat tethered to a dock that was probably a functioning boat at one time. The visit was really interesting and informative. Note-the squat pans are not just in the public toilets .... More fun to come today! Keep reading.
