Lhasa Tibet! Like no where else this traveler has been to date. Oddly familiar but unique. Today we set out to visit the Barhor Bazaar and the 1300 year Old Jokhang Temple. Not sure if was a fortunate timing to be there during a pilgrimage or not so fortunate. The temple and bazaar was teeming with Tibetans from all over the entire county to visit the temple, bringing offerings and prayers to the many Buddhas in the temple. Literally thousands were walking clockwise around the temple. Queuing up to add incense to the 4 huge chimneys on each of the 4 corners. At the entrance hundreds doing their ritual prayers. It was quite an experience. Something a camera just cannot capture. The texture, colors, people is their native ceremonial clothing, fingering their prayer beads, murmuring sutras, smells (mostly yak butter burning candles - not the most pleasant smell), smiles, excitement, reverence and so much more. It was another massive crush of humanity, this time, of Tibetans.
