> The highlight of the Yangtze River Cruise is sailing through the Three River Gorges. I cheated a bit and took photos of what the gorges look like with the best optimal visibility from a slide show lecture and one as we saw it. The gorges are quite spectacular. The fist and shortest is the Qutang Gorge. The most dramatic of the three. The OAT group had their own VIP viewing area which was quite nice and devoid of very aggressive pushing Chinese. Not that it is objectionable to maintain your own personal space... just saying. ☺️. The next Gorge is the Wu Gorge. Lots of history here as well as forested 12 peaks. This Gorge is about 28 miles long. Ancient civilizations buried their dead on the side of these cliffs. The 74 tombs found here date back nearly 6000 years. The coffins have been removed and are preserved in one of China's museums. It was so nice to have a relaxing day on the boat. In the morning, our guide taught us how to play mahjong- can be quite competitive. They play for money here. I would loose my shirt etc...
